How It Works

The Focus Mode Timer helps you practise deep work — extended periods of distraction-free concentration on a single task. Unlike the Pomodoro Technique with its fixed 25-minute intervals, this timer lets you choose any focus duration that suits your work style and task complexity.

Getting Started

  1. Type the task you plan to work on (optional but recommended for tracking)
  2. Select a preset duration or set a custom one
  3. Press Start and focus exclusively on your task
  4. When the timer ends, take the suggested break before the next session

Choosing a Duration

Research suggests most people can sustain deep focus for 45–90 minutes before needing a break. Start with shorter sessions (25–45 min) if you are building the habit, and gradually increase as your concentration improves. Breaks should be roughly 15–25% of your focus time.

Tracking Progress

Each completed focus session is recorded in your session history with its task label and duration. The statistics panel shows your daily totals, current streak of completed sessions, and longest session — giving you concrete data on your focus habits.

Focus Tips

  • Silence notifications and close unrelated tabs before starting
  • Define a single task to focus on per session
  • Stay hydrated during breaks
  • Build a daily rhythm to strengthen the habit
